Pros: Large tank, ability to rep tank a lot of damage for a short amount of time
Cons: Slow, slower to get back into combat after taking damage and using its reps
Fits: Personaly i use a 180 mm plate, then 3 small reps. Its less rep potential then a large rep and small plates, but a larger buffer tank and the ability to spread your reps evenly (rather than in one large chunk) I use a railgun main and blaster secondaries. Take the time and isk to invest in your secondary turrets, you won't regret the decision if you can get a good crew.
A) Infantry - Assuming non AV (including AV nades because those do more damage then most actual AV) focus on giving your gunners good sight lines and get into a position where your target won't have good cover. Use your rail gun to get splash damage on targets (remember that you get 25 for a kill assist, and 35 for a driver assist, which is more than actualy getting the kill) The rail gun has perfect accuracy, so you can use it to hit people standing still and/or far away quite easily.
B) Tanks - With an railgun fit you'll have no problem out damaging blaster fit tanks. Turn on as many reps as you need to tank it and open fire. Be carful about following tanks that are retreating, as AV infantry is going to be a much bigger threat than enemy tanks will. On the other hand you have to be agressive if you catch a tank in a vulnerable position. Doing damage is good but you need to aim for the kill all the time.
C) AV personal - Honestly, run. AV is overpowered right now, a well tanked tank (lol) can survive a lot of hits from a lone AV, but two or three can alpha you before your reps can save you. And a squad of 4 guys with AV nades WILL KILL YOU. PERIOD. Don't mess with them, move back and let your infantry take care of them since they should be fairly vulnurable when they have AV weapons equipt.
D) Instalations - With a rail gun it will take 4 shots with a militia or standard gun, 3 if you have decent skills, to destroy an instilation. Always kill rail gun turrets, as they will out DPS your reps easily. Kill all neutral instilations you can, because if it gets hacked when you arn't paying attention it can easily cost you your tank. One of the largets benifits to the railgun turret is its ability to kill instalations, they are a much bigger thread to blaster main tanks.
Hope this helps and can't wait till i see you on the battlefield! |
